Zepbound Doc Check-in #1

February 15, 2024

So today I had my first official follow up appointment after 5 1/2 weeks on Zepbound. If I haven’t already mentioned, I get Zepbound through a medical practice called Accomplish Health. I discovered them on TikTok of all places. Remember, I’m in my 50s so that’s odd to me. Dr. Michael Albert started showing up on my feed probably about a year ago. Something about him, his tone, his focus on research – just engaging videos that spoke to me. Still, finding doctors on TikTok explicitly in search of prescription medication felt odd to me. So stalked him and his practice a while. It all felt super legit. I had my first appointment with Dr. Albert in December and knew immediately I had found the right guy. I started Zepbound early January. I have also met with the dietician that is part of the team. Today I met with the nurse practitioner for my first check-in.

We had a great visit. One of the big topics was my rate of weight loss. It is SO easy to get sucked into all the social media posts from people who are losing twenty plus pounds a month and are at 15mg in five months. No shade at all. But for me, I’m looking for slow and steady – learning a way to eat that is sustainable and not a diet but my lifestyle. Yeah, cheesy sounding lines, I know. But true. So I’ve lost about fifteen pounds in 5 1/2 weeks – four weeks on the 2.5mg “non-therapeutic” dose and 1 1/2 weeks on 5mg. I was worried Amanda (the NP) would push to go up. But she didn’t. She suggested we sit here another month and then have an appointment with Dr. Albert. I found the right practice for me.
